Marble Mountain Resort is located just outside Corner Brook, in the town of Steady Brook, found on the west coast of Newfoundland. Known famously for its downhill skiing, Marble Mountain Resort is the largest alpine ski resort in eastern Canada and boastssome of the best skiing east of the Rockies. Marble Mountain Ski Resort was also an important venue for the 1999 Canada Winter Games hosted by Corner Brook. The ski resort hosts another exclusive attractionas it has the only detachable high speed quad lift in Atlantic Canada, apltly named âthe Lightning Expressâ. First of all, at the base of Marble Mountain is a 54,000 square foot lodge that has been described as âthe most beautiful lodge in the worldâ by Powder Magazine. The family friendly, world class Marble Mountain Base Lodge was built in the 1990âs. The front of this magnificent buildingfaces the mountain, and is one wall of glass whichoffers a spectacular view of the hill from two of its three levels. The main building hosts a bar, and cafeteria-style restaurant, while the second building, just a few steps from the Governorâs Express chairlift, houses a childrenâs centre and a rental and repair shop.
What else does Marble Mountain Resort offer? Well, it is an all- season haven for great fun,thrills, and excitement. Resting at the base of Marble Mountain is an obstacle course that can only be conquered if you have your wits about you and the courage to climb the course! .The Spider Challenge obstacle course is one where participants complete a variety of trails about 50 ft. high in air, progressing in intensity as you go higher and further along the course.
Be sure to make reservations for zip lining, one of the most sought after attractions at Marble Mountain. Soaring roughly 300 ft. in the air, this exciting adventure gives you a spectacular view over Steady Brook Falls.
Marble Mountain is also a gorgeous backdrop to some incredible hiking adventures. From the resort itself, several steep trails can take you to the top of the mountain. Before attempting this hike, go into the lodge and get a trail map to ensure you safely reach the top.
