Handling winter is an adventure of which we can take advantage especially here in western Newfoundland. Take advantage of Marble Mountain Resort by participating in outdoor winter sports for enjoyment and exhilaration! Marble Mountain Resort is located in Steady Brook in the beautiful Humber Valley where the best skiing east of the Rockies is found. What makes Marble Mountain Resort a great destination for your downhill skiing pleasures? What happens on the hill itself is of course important, but just as important is the amenities around the resort.
Marble Mountain Resort’s proximity to the towns of Steady Brook and Corner Brook offers skiers close availability to accommodations, restaurants and shopping. As well, Marble Mountain Resort is located thirty minutes from Deer Lake airport. Many hotel/condo accommodations are available near the resort, notably Marble Villa which is really a ski-in/ski-out accommodation located about 200 feet from the Black Mariah chairlift. How neat is that! For a little shopping, drop into the Marble Zip line office at the resort or walk over to George’s Ski World for a variety of clothing and equipment.
If after a few runs down the hill, your skis or snowboard need those edges sharpened, don’t fret. Go downstairs at the resort to the rental shop and the guys there will look after you. If you don’t have your own gear, rent it at the rental shop. When you are ready, hit any of the 39 slopes which are accessed by four lifts. Line ups? Well, here at Marble Mountain Resort you will spend more time skiing than waiting in line ups. While skiing from the top of the mountain, have your camera with you and take a few ‘snaps’ of the spectacular panoramic view of the Humber Valley.
Sometimes travelling with children can be a drawback to participating in some outdoor activities. The awesome thing about Marble Mountain Resort for parents is the Children’s Center at the lodge. Have your children take ski lessons from the center or just drop them off where they will be safely taken care of and entertained with age appropriate activities. Families can bring their own lunches to the lodge or enjoy breakfast and lunch prepared at The Cookhouse located in the lodge. While the kids are at the Children’s Centre, parents can enjoy a cold one at the Knotty Pine Lounge. With a family area available in the lounge, the children are also welcome.
Marble Mountain Resort offers a variety of activities for young and old alike, including ski and snowboarding lessons, night skiing and for an action packed adventure check out snowmobiling and zip lining. Book your zip lining adventure at the base lodge, then soar over Marble Mountain Gorge directly above Steady Brook Falls where you will get an aerial view of the resort and the Humber Valley.
To ensure a safe day on the slopes, the certified Canadian Ski Patrol, easily identified in bright yellow and blue coats, is ready to offer assistance. Most first aid required will be administered at the First Aid room downstairs at the base lodge.
